Delay in enforcement of IRS requirements makes it easier for you to use your spending account card at grocery and discount stores

The IRS has delayed enforcement of the new healthcare spending account card requirements. These rules required grocery stores and discount stores to filter out permissible healthcare FSA items automatically at the point of purchase. As a result of this delay, most cardholders will be able to continue to use their healthcare spending account cards at all grocery and discount stores through 2007 to purchase eligible spending account items.

There are some merchants who already have a system in place that meets the IRS requirements. At these merchants, your spending account card transactions should be validated at the point of sale and SHPS should not need to ask you to send in additional information.
